Kathy Wang


Head of AR Product

Kathy helps lead the creative tools product team at TikTok, where she launched Effect House, the company’s first AR product that allows creators to build, publish & share effects. She built TikTok’s AR effects ecosystem from 0 to 1, including creation tools, user growth, moderation, monetization, discovery & recommendations. Kathy also led the launch of several industry-first generative AI creation tools, as well as a $6M creator fund.

Previously, Kathy spent 4 years at Magic Leap, helping to oversee product across the spatial computing platform, including software & OS, developer ecosystem, hardware, multimodal UI and content. She also helped lead strategy & business development, including partnerships with companies such as Disney, HBO, Alibaba, H&M, NBA and The New York Times. 

Prior to Magic Leap, Kathy worked on product at Amazon Video, helping to develop a social recommendation product. Before that, she worked on the investing team at Andreessen Horowitz, focusing on consumer internet startups. Kathy started her career in tech & media investment banking at Allen & Company, advising companies including Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, Twitter, Intel, Yelp, Etsy, Universal Music and Activision Blizzard.

Kathy holds an MBA from Harvard and a BS in Finance & Political Science from Wharton/Penn. When she’s not thinking about the future of computing, Kathy likes to get outside and enjoys hiking, skiing, tennis and all things food and design.
