Amy Varney is an investor at Systemiq Capital, a VC fund dedicated to early stage (Seed to Series B) climate tech investments. As a trained scientist, Amy is passionate about the role science and business have to play in solving climate change challenges. She is particularly interested in the application of synthetic biology and chemistry to this space, and works predominantly on Systemiq Capital’s climate biotech investments.

Amy began her career as the first employee of biotechnology startup OxStem, where she was VP Operations and helped raise ~$20M of Seed financing. Her investing experience includes London-based technology VC Atomico and New York-based life science VC Biospring Partners.

Amy has a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford, a DPhil (PhD) in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
