Dr. Farid Khan
Bioentrepreneur

Dr. Farid Khan works at Salonica Group focussed on the ‘Infinity Fund’ which invests in deep tech applications in biotech, Life Sciences and advanced materials. He is also a senior research associate at The University of Cambridge, specializing in bio-entrepreneurship. Dr. Khan has founded several bio-medtech firms, including Chief AI, which utilizes AI for neurological diseases & drug repurposing, Bright Biotech that makes recombinant proteins in plants, Gennate in nano-nutrients to increase crop yields to Pill Connect, focused on medication adherence.
Dr. Khan obtained a PhD from Cambridge University in Protein Engineering, he is an award-winning scientist, who previously worked at GlaxoSmithKline. He specialises in drug discovery, diagnostics, genetic engineering, recombinant technologies and agri-tech. Dr. Khan bridges academic research with commercial application, mentoring start-ups and securing multi-million-pound funding for life science ventures.
In 2013 Dr. Khan was awarded an Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Salford. In 2014 in recognition of his work in science and engineering, he was awarded the Fazlur Rahman Khan award for excellence by Prime Minister David Cameron. Dr. Khan has been interviewed by Bloomberg, The Guardian and the BBC and by a number of peer reviewed journals. In June, 2019, Dr. Khan was included in the top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech-a definitive list by Diversity UK in association with KPMG and in 2024 he was award Tech star Pioneer by Asians in Tech.
